Newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest are reportedly showing interest in Chelsea centre-forward Armando Broja.
According to Football Transfers, Nottingham Forest have made Chelsea’s Armando Broja, who spent last season on loan with Southampton, a transfer target as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of the upcoming season. Broja is set to leave Chelsea in search of regular game time, which he is not expected to get with the Blues, who are already stacked up in the offensive department.
A Chelsea youth academy product, the 20-year-old prospect joined Southampton last year immediately after returning from a year-long loan with Vitesse Arnhem, for whom he scored 11 goals in 34 matches. Broja was impressive in his stint with the Saints as well, which has forced multiple Premier League clubs to take notice.
He started 21 Premier League matches for Southampton in the recently-concluded season from a total of 32 appearances in the English top-flight. Broja scored six goals in the Premier League, on top of one in the FA Cup and two in the Carabao Cup. Broja has now returned to Chelsea after the completion of his Southampton stint but could be on the move again.
Nottingham Forest are set to lose a few players including striker Lewis Grabban, who scored 13 goals for them last season across competitions and want to replace him before the season starts. The newly-promoted Premier League club are also looking to sign Keinan Davis permanently, who spent the last season on loan with them from Aston Villa.
Davis scored five goals for them in 15 league appearances and provided two assists as well. If they manage to sign the Aston Villa striker permanently and add Broja to the mix, Nottingham Forest would be well-settled in the attacking department.
Broja, however, is attracting interest from other clubs as well. The aforementioned report states that both Everton and West Ham United are monitoring his situation at Chelsea. The Hammers have submitted a formal enquiry, with Newcastle United in the mix as well.
Arsenal were also said to be keeping tabs on the 20-year-old, but they now seem to be seriously pursuing Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus. It will be interesting to see if Broja joins Nottingham Forest if he leaves Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
