Real Madrid could reportedly face a hijack from PSG in the race to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, with Les Parisiens prepared to pay €100 million to land him.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer transfer window could be dealt a setback. The Merengues face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the race to land the French international midfielder, with Les Parisiens ready to offer €100 million for him.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have developed a bitter rivalry due to Los Blancos’ eagerness to sign Kylian Mbappe. The relations between the two juggernauts soured last year when Real Madrid tried to prise the Frenchman away from PSG by paying a nine-figure sum.
The situation has worsened following Mbappe’s surprising decision to remain at PSG beyond the summer transfer window by signing a new contract instead of joining Real Madrid in a Bosman move. The two powerhouse clubs are now clashing in the transfer market for several highly sought-after players.
Sadio Mane is a common target for Real Madrid and PSG, who are also locking horns in the race to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, a hot property in the market after two excellent seasons at AS Monaco. And Les Parisiens could look to steal a march on Real Madrid by paying a higher sum for the French midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Recent reports have claimed that the Spanish giants are on the verge of sealing a €100 million move for Tchouameni. The eagerness from Real Madrid stems from the advancing years of the first-choice midfield trio of Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. And the French international has the qualities to be Casemiro’s long-term successor.
Meanwhile, PSG will need to invest in a top-class midfielder due to the inconsistencies of players like Georginio Wijnaldum, Ander Herrera and Danilo Pereira this past season. The three midfielders are also on the wrong side of 30, meaning Tchouameni is a viable target for PSG, who are ready to pay €100 million to land the French international.

But while the Ligue 1 heavyweights are ready to hijack Real Madrid’s pursuit by paying €100 million upfront, Tchouameni is reportedly ready to sign a five-year deal with the Merengues. So the transfer saga seems to be setting up nicely, and it will be interesting to see where Tchouameni goes after leaving AS Monaco this summer.
