AS Roma plotting Isco swoop

Serie A giants AS Roma are reportedly keen on signing Real Madrid midfielder Isco in a Bosman move in the summer transfer window.

Isco continues to attract suitors from across Europe, with a club from Serie A now emerging in his pursuit. According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Real Madrid midfielder is the subject of interest from AS Roma over a possible Bosman move in the summer transfer window.

Isco has reached the end of a big phase in his career, with his stint with Real Madrid ending this summer. While the Spanish midfielder’s contract still has a few more weeks left to run out, he has announced his departure from the Santiago Bernabeu, bringing the curtains down on a successful yet underwhelming stint.

The 30-year-old struggled to establish himself as a regular for Los Blancos due to the presence of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro in their midfield unit. But Isco was still impressive at Real Madrid, turning out 353 times for the Merengues while chipping in with 53 goals and 56 assists. And following his exit from Real Madrid, several clubs are queueing up to secure his services.

The Real Madrid midfielder has popped up on the radars of clubs like Newcastle United, Sevilla, Real Betis and Galatasaray over a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. And Isco has now emerged as a target for AS Roma.

AS Roma will lose Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the summer transfer window, with the Armenian playmaker edging closer to a move across Serie A to Inter Milan. The former Manchester United midfielder has also appeared on the radars of a few Premier League clubs, but San Siro seems to be his next destination.

Mkhitaryan’s departure will leave AS Roma with an open spot in the midfield unit, bringing Isco into the picture over a possible Bosman move in the summer transfer window. And the Serie A giants are weighing up the prospect of approaching the Real Madrid midfielder.

As days pass by in June, Isco is closing in on officially becoming a free agent by leaving Real Madrid. Where the Spaniard will continue his career remains a mystery, and the emergence of AS Roma in the race to sign him has made things intriguing.
