Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on 24-year-old RB Leipzig defender Nordi Mukiele.
According to a report by Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are among multiple clubs interested in signing RB Leipzig right-back Nordi Mukiele. The 24-year-old French defender is set to depart the Bundesliga clubs this summer and has been offered to some European clubs, including Tottenham.
Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are the other clubs interested in getting the full-back on board. And while the La Liga side maintain their interest, PSG are not seriously pursuing the French defender, allowing other interested clubs to swoop in. Manchester United have also been linked with the 24-year-old.
Mukiele joined RB Leipzig in the 2018 summer transfer window and has since cemented the right-back spot, while also featuring as a centre-back and a wing-back. In all, he has made 145 appearances for the Bundesliga club, contributing with 10 goals and 11 assists.
But the four-year association now seems to be coming to an end, with no contract renewal in sight. Mukiele has a year remaining on his deal with Leipzig, but he has decided to move on, and the German side are holding out for around £17 million to secure the Frenchman’s services.
Tottenham are in the market to strengthen multiple positions other than right wing-back. One of Antonio Conte’s priorities is to sign a centre-back this summer, and the north London side have been linked with a host of names. Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni is believed to be their leading target, with the Italian tactician eager for a reunion with the defender.
Inter winger Ivan Perisic is also on Spurs’ transfer radar and is expected to be closing in on a deal. The Croat’s deal with the Nerazzurri runs down next month, and he will reportedly join the north London club on a free transfer.
There are expected to be multiple departures as well this summer. Harry Winks is one of the players reportedly on his way out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Spurs hoping to get at least £15 million from the Englishman’s sale. The Tottenham board is eager to provide Conte with all possible means to strengthen the side this summer, and Mukiele could arrive soon.
