Chelsea reportedly have no intention to offload N’Golo Kante to Manchester United this summer.
Chelsea’s takeover by the consortium led by Todd Boehly could greatly change the outlook of the first team and the way the club operate. It could usher in a grand rebuild led by Thomas Tuchel and one of the players who could end up being a victim of that rebuild is N’Golo Kante, who is a target for Manchester United, reports The Guardian.
With just a year left in his contract at Stamford Bridge, Kante is staring at an uncertain future at the club. It has put Manchester United on alert, with the club’s new coach Erik ten Hag keen on acquiring the Chelsea midfielder’s services, in order to strengthen his ranks in the middle of the park.
Regarded as one of the best midfielders in Europe, Kante has been an excellent servant for Chelsea since joining the club in 2016. With 260 competitive appearances, he has helped the club win a Premier League and a Champions League title among many other accolades.
Kante’s aggression and never-ending stamina make him an excellent cog in the second line of press. The Frenchman has also developed his quality in possession during his stint with Chelsea, making him one of the most all-round midfielders in Europe.
However, with just one year left on his Chelsea contract, the former Leicester City starlet has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. The likes of PSG and Barcelona are keeping close tabs on the midfielder’s situation, but it is Manchester United who have shown a greater degree of interest.
The Red Devils, after all, are bracing themselves for a tough summer ahead. Both their star midfielders in Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic are set to leave Manchester United at the end of the season, with the former reportedly signing a three-year contract with Juventus.
Pogba and Matic’s departures, coupled with the lack of quality from Scott McTominay and Fred have compelled Manchester United to go after a new midfielder. And it appears coach ten Hag is particularly keen on securing the services of N’Golo Kante, as he views the Chelsea midfielder as the ideal man to bring quality into United’s second line of press.

However, the report suggests Chelsea have no intention to offload their star player to a direct rival. In fact, Thomas Tuchel rates Kante quite highly and wants to retain his services for the foreseeable future. As such, we could soon see the Frenchman pen a new deal at Chelsea and help Tuchel usher in a new era in west London.
