Real Madrid have reportedly been offered a chance to sign Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski, who is a top target for Barcelona.

According to Cadena SER, La Liga champions Real Madrid have been given an opportunity to sign Bayern Munich and Poland striker Robert Lewandowski, amid strong interest from their arch-rivals Barcelona.

Lewandowski is pushing to end his eight-year association with Bayern Munich in the upcoming summer transfer window. Signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, the 33-year-old has achieved everything with the Bavarian giants and is keen on a new challenge in his career. So, after plundering 50 goals in all competitions in the 2021/22 season, the striker has his heart set on a move away.

Lewandowski will be entering the final year of his contract this summer and has informed Bayern Munich that he will not sign an extension and wants to move on to a new club. Barcelona have emerged as the likeliest destination for the Poland international, with the Catalans keen on adding a marquee striker in the summer.

Barcelona are hoping to fill the void left by the departure of Lionel Messi last year and want Lewandowski to lead the rebuild under Xavi Hernandez. Reports have gone as far as claiming that the 33-year-old striker already has a contract agreement over a three-year deal with the Catalan heavyweights.

However, things might not be as advanced as rumours claim, as it is now being reported that Lewandowski’s camp has offered the striker to Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid have been handed a major blow to their transfer plans as Kylian Mbappe snubbed Los Blancos to extend his contract at Paris Saint-Germain. It has forced the reigning La Liga champions to look at other options to bolster their frontline. And, it seems like Lewandowski has emerged as an option, with the Bayern superstar’s camp offering him to the Spanish capital club.

It has been claimed that Lewandowski would be open to the idea of joining Real Madrid. However, the Merengues are yet to decide on the matter as they are currently focused on their UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool this weekend.

Even if Real Madrid decide to take up the chance to sign Lewandowski, quite how they manage to fit Karim Benzema and the Pole in the side would be a huge question. For now, though, Barcelona seem like the best-placed club to capture the 33-year-old’s services.

Madrid should learn from the past mistakes and the present success it better to get a younger striker that will learn from benzema
