Arsenal have reportedly retained an interest in Orkun Kokcu, who could leave Feyenoord this summer, with AS Roma also keen on signing the midfielder.

According to Goal, Arsenal may reignite their interest in Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu, who has had a brilliant season. The Gunners are looking for a new midfielder of his profile, but they face competition from AS Roma for the 21-year-old Turkish international’s signature.

Orkun Kokcu is no stranger to links with major clubs, including Arsenal, in the past. The Feyenoord midfielder has come a long way from becoming the professional footballer he is, and his journey could just be beginning. There are many clubs keen on singing the Turkish international after some impressive performances this term.

Kokcu has helped Feyenoord reach the UEFA Europa Conference League final against AS Roma this season. The Giallorossi are also one of the teams very keen on signing the midfielder, with some reports suggesting the Turkish international may have agreed on a move already.

However, as things stand, there is no agreement, although the 21-year-old midfielder could be open to a move in the summer. Arsenal are reportedly considering reigniting their interest in Kokcu, having kept tabs for a few years on the player. The Feyenoord star may not be the most prolific player around, but he certainly affects the game positively.

The Gunners are looking for a midfielder of Kokcu’s profile, with Mikel Arteta seeking a fluid No.8 to upgrade his options. Arsenal are linked with several players, including Youri Tielemans, but Kokcu could be considered as an alternative to the Belgian international.

In fact, Tielemans may have been a more expensive option if not for his contractual situation. Meanwhile, Kokcu could also be available at a reasonable price tag as Arsenal continue searching for a new central midfield solution.

Arsenal are also linked with Juventus midfielder Arthur, who could depart from the Allianz Stadium in the summer. Arsenal tried and failed to sign the Brazilian in January and may rekindle their interest in him. A move will depend on Arteta and the Italian club’s potential asking price.

Kokcu has shown the characteristics to fit into Arsenal’s system with his performances for Feyenoord. The north Londoners have closely monitored the 21-year-old midfielder for a long time now, and his age profile is precisely what Arteta requires.
