Christian Pulisic is reportedly set to hold talks with the Chelsea board over his future at Stamford Bridge.

In his column for Caught Offside, Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on Chelsea’s transfer policy in the coming season. Once the takeover is complete, it appears Thomas Tuchel is set to hold a meeting with the club bosses over the policy in the market and the overall plans for the squad overhaul required ahead of the coming season.

Amid all the transfer talk, the Chelsea board is also set to meet with Christian Pulisic. The American international has struggled for prominence under Tuchel’s tutelage and is facing an uncertain future at the club, as we near the summer transfer window.

The Chelsea board is set to hold crunch talks with Pulisic over his desire to continue at Stamford Bridge. The attacker has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the past in light of his lack of game-time. Juventus were the most recent club to have been linked with a move for the former Borussia Dortmund ace.

But it appears the Bianconeri are set to sign Angel Di Maria, opening the door for other clubs to pursue the Chelsea attacker. With the player’s contract expiring in 2024, the Blues have a decision to make, knowing they could lose him on a cut-price deal in 2023.

Pulisic has earned only 13 starts for Chelsea in the Premier League campaign this term. He has fallen behind the likes of Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Mason Mount in the pecking order, with Tuchel not rating him highly despite his immense potential.

Pulisic’s role in the Chelsea squad could dwindle further as the Blues look to add new attackers in the new season. Tuchel is reportedly eyeing a move to sign Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer, with Chelsea already re-opening talks with the French international.

A move away from Stamford Bridge appears to be the likely solution for Pulisic. With the 2022 FIFA World Cup just around the corner, the American international will be aiming to become a first-team regular at a top European club next season and prepare himself ahead of Qatar 2022.

However, finding a suitor could be a tricky task for Chelsea as not many clubs would be open to helping the Blues recoup the €64 million they had spent on the player a few years ago. So the attacker’s fate could depend on whether Chelsea are willing to lower their demands for the American.
