Tottenham are reportedly chasing Brennan Johnson, with the 20-year-old Welsh international likely to be available in the summer.

According to 90 min, Tottenham have joined the chase for Welsh international Brennan Johnson. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder could be made available for a transfer in the summer, with a host of Premier League clubs chasing the his signature after a tremendous season with Nottingham Forest.

The current period of British football continues to produce terrific talents at every level of the league structure. The Premier League has seen players like Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden and Jacob Ramsey come to light in recent years, and there are talents rising in the Championship as well.

One of them is Brennan Johnson, who has had a terrific season with Nottingham Forest. A tally of 19 goals and nine assists from an attacking midfield position has put him firmly on the radars of multiple Premier League clubs. Leeds United and West Ham United have already expressed an interest in the rising Welsh star, and there are others keen on securing his signature.

Brentford, Newcastle United and Everton are also eager to add the Welsh international to their ranks, and he could be one of the bargain deals available in the window. Nottingham Forest may be resigned to selling him in the summer as Johnson enters the final year of his deal.

Tottenham are the latest team to enter the chase, with Antonio Conte keen on adding exciting talents to his squad. The 20-year-old may not be considered an ideal first-team star by the Italian tactician, but his numbers are too significant to ignore.

Conte wants players who could share the goalscoring burden with Son Heung-min and Harry Kane next season as the manager seeks to bring a balance to the team. Johnson could prove to be a shrewd acquisition considering his ceiling to develop further is high.

By position, Johnson is an attacking midfielder, and Tottenham do not have a creative midfielder. Kane is considered the chief creator for Spurs, and bringing in a player in Johnson’s mould might suit the team. Moreover, he could be available for a cut-price fee, favouring Tottenham financially.

Conte might be looking beyond an attacking midfielder to share the goalscoring burden, keeping in mind the recent links with wide forward Martin Terrier, who has been brilliant for Rennes this season.

As things stand, Johnson has plenty of options from the Premier League, and he may decide his next destination based on the regularity of game time he could receive, among other things. At Tottenham, he may have to bide his time, but in a club like Brentford, Everton or Leeds United he may feature regularly, making them appealing destinations.
