Liverpool are reportedly in pole position to sign Birmingham City’s newest youth sensation Jobe Bellingham, a target for Manchester City and Newcastle United.
According to a report from Daily Mirror, Liverpool have asked Birmingham City to be kept up to date with the situation revolving around Jobe Bellingham. The younger brother of revered English talent, Jude Bellingham, the midfielder is set to become an in-demand prospect in the summer, with many hoping to lure him away from BCFC, with Manchester City and Newcastle also tailing him.
An attacking midfielder by trade, Bellingham currently plies his trade with Birmingham’s Under-18 setup. But he has already made three appearances for the first team.
During his time in the youth leagues, Bellingham has raised eyebrows with his creative nous and the ability to make things happen in the final third. While he might not be as mentally charged as his older brother just yet, many clubs expect him to follow in his footsteps in the coming years, especially after he gains a bit more experience.
Birmingham City are determined not to lose him like they did with his older brother, who moved to Borussia Dortmund a couple of years ago and has since become one of the most talented young players in world football.
The report suggests the Championship outfit have given Jobe Bellingham a clear plan for his development and are willing to offer him a prominent role in the first-team in the new season. The player himself feels connected to the club, but with top clubs across Europe, like Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle, hounding for his services, it might turn out to be a challenging task for BCFC.
Liverpool are among the clubs interested in luring the young Jobe Bellingham away from Birmingham this coming summer. The Reds are already planning a mega swoop for Jude Bellingham in 2023, and it appears they want to sign his younger brother to further coax him to arrive at Anfield at the end of next season.
However, Liverpool are facing stiff competition from other clubs in the pursuit of Jobe Bellingham. Premier League rivals Manchester City and Newcastle United are also involved in the race, with both the cash-rich clubs presumably willing to offer the youngster a lucrative contract.
Manchester City also offer a world-class youth development facility that has produced talents such as Jadon Sancho and Phil Foden, while Newcastle are starting an ambitious project under the new owners, thus giving Liverpool a run for their money. But one would argue the most daunting challenge could be offered by Borussia Dortmund.
The German giants have kept tabs on Jobe Bellingham for quite a while now and want to incorporate him into Marco Rose’s setup in the coming season, potentially paving the way for the two Bellinghams to feature together in the BVB starting eleven next season.

Dortmund have an elite reputation for developing young talents, and given Jude Bellingham’s connection with the club, it will be a difficult ask for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to leapfrog his former club in the race to sign Jobe Bellingham this summer.
