West Ham United have expressed the desire to sign Olympique Lyon forward Tete this summer.

According to talkSPORT, West Ham United have set their sights on Tete. The Olympique Lyon winger has become one of the most sought-after players in the market following his early success in Ligue 1, and he could be on the verge of a move to the Premier League in the coming summer.

Tete joined Lyon from Shakhtar Donetsk in April after FIFA granted special permission for footballers playing in Russia and Ukraine to leave the country in favour of a move elsewhere. The winger joined the French club on a short-term deal after temporarily terminating his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Since joining Les Gones, the Brazilian has already been involved in three goals in six league outings. He has impressed the onlookers with his pace and dynamism in the final third, with many expecting him to join a bigger club at the end of the season.

Tete’s contract at Lyon expires in the summer when he will technically return to his parent club Shakhtar Donetsk, where his contract remains valid until December 2023. But it appears he could fancy a move elsewhere knowing a prolonged stay in war-torn Ukraine will no longer be an option.

One of the clubs in contention to sign Tete are West Ham United. With uncertainties brewing over the future of Jarrod Bowen, who has been recently linked with a move to Manchester United, David Moyes is keen on shoring up his options in the attacking department.

That is where Tete comes into the fray. A right-winger by trade, the Brazilian is rated highly due to his skill and quality on the ball in the final third. His ability to take on opposing defenders and offer productivity in the final third makes him a well-rounded attacking option.

Tete is also versatile enough to play on both flanks, which could make him a useful acquisition for West Ham. The Hammers have often switched between Said Benrahma, Nikola Vlasic and Pablo Fornals, all of whom have been inconsistent this term.

The addition of the Lyon starlet could solve the issue, although West Ham could face stiff competition for the pursuit of the Brazilian this summer, as he looks to take the next step in his career.
