Leeds United line up Daichi Kamada swoop

Leeds United are reportedly eyeing a potential summer swoop for 25-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt playmaker Daichi Kamada.

According to a report from Football Insider, Leeds United have set their sights on Daichi Kamada. The Premier League outfit want to strengthen their ranks in the creative unit ahead of the new season, with the 25-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt starlet emerging as the ideal target for coach Jesse Marsch.

Having followed him closely in the Bundesliga, Marsch is well aware of Kamada’s talents. The Leeds United boss wants the 25-year-old playmaker to showcase those talents at Elland Road next season and become a part of the American’s rebuild, as he looks to help Leeds establish themselves as a regular Premier League side in the years to come.

Formerly of Sagan Tosu, in his native Japan, Kamada has been a part of the Frankfurt setup since 2017. But it was not until the 2019/20 campaign when he made his breakthrough in the Bundesliga, featuring in 28 league matches.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Kamada’s gameplay resembles his compatriot and Borussia Dortmund legend Shinji Kagawa. The 25-year-old is adept in possession and is capable of drifting past opposition defenders with ease. He is equally capable of finding balls in behind the backline and releasing runners in behind the defence.

Kamada’s technical prowess has allowed him to thrive alongside the likes of Jesper Lindstrom and Filip Kostic at Frankfurt this season. But he has also developed his game in order to grow into a far more versatile individual, who can now operate in the false nine position.

The Japanese international’s qualities have not gone unnoticed, with Leeds United eyeing a move in the upcoming summer transfer window. It appears the Whites are targeting the Eintracht Frankfurt starlet as a potential upgrade over Rodrigo Moreno and Tyler Roberts.

The 25-year-old can offer the creative essence in the final third and link up well with the likes of Jack Harrison, Daniel James and Patrick Bamford. However, Frankfurt are also risking the loss of Filip Kostic and Evan N’Dicka, who is a target for Manchester United and Newcastle United. So the Bundesliga outfit are unlikely to sanction the exit of Kamada to join Leeds United.

Leeds United’s move for the influential playmaker also depends on their survival in the Premier League. The Yorkshire outfit are currently embroiled in a tense relegation fight, and with four matches remaining until the end of the season, they could possibly go down, especially if Everton can sneak out a couple of more wins.
