Premier League giants Manchester United have offered Anthony Martial plus cash to sign Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.

According to Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi, Manchester United have made an approach to Inter Milan for the signing of Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez. The Red Devils have offered on-loan forward Anthony Martial plus €50 million to acquire the services of the 24-year-old striker.

The Red Devils are in the market for a No. 9 and are looking at players who can serve them for the long term. They have recently been guilty of signing stop-gap options which haven’t quite worked out for them and a new approach is much-needed. The appointment of Erik ten Hag also points to a change in approach for the club.

In this quest, they have reportedly made an offer for Martinez, who has been in scintillating form for the Nerazzurri over the past few years. He is leading their attack this season following Romelu Lukaku’s departure, and has scored 17 goals and assisted three in Serie A. He will have four years remaining on his Inter contract after the ongoing season, which leaves the Italian giants in a position to call the shots.

Inter are reportedly not interested in a player-plus-cash deal and have asked Manchester United to pay the whole transfer fee in cash. If they part ways with Martinez, they would want a full-cash deal to sign another striker from the market.

“There’s talk of Manchester United making an offer of €50 million plus Martial for Lautaro Martinez,” Barzaghi said on his YouTube channel. “Inter aren’t interested in it it as they would only want cash, and then to go and look for a striker, possibly Dybala.”

While Manchester United continue their search for a new number nine, it seems Anthony Martial’s days at the club are numbered. He is currently on loan at Sevilla after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford and has failed to impress in Spain as well.

Manchester United are willing to cash in on the Frenchman. He will not be the only forward leaving the club this summer with Edinson Cavani also on his way out as well with his contract expiring this summer. So, a new and prolific striker is a must for the 20-time English champions as question marks linger over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future as well.

Whether they decide to approach Inter Milan with an improved offer or look elsewhere remains to be seen.
