Adrien Rabiot is reportedly of interest to Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona, with the Frenchman emerging as an economically viable option.
According to Fichajes, there is considerable interest in French midfielder Adrien Rabiot, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona vying for his signature. The three clubs are looking at an economically viable option, yet someone with experience and the 27-year-old Juventus midfielder fits the bill for the requirement.
Adrien Rabiot has largely been utilised correctly at Juventus since joining the Turin club. He did fall a bit out of favour under Maurizio Sarri and then Andrea Pirlo. But under Massimiliano Allegri, the French midfielder seems to have a concrete place in the team.
Juventus signed Manuel Locatelli last summer, which threatened Rabiot’s place in the side. However, Allegri has integrated the two players together and achieved decent success. But for the long-term future, the 27-year-old French international may not be in the plans of the Serie A giants, which points towards a transfer in the summer.
Rabiot’s contract expires in 2023, allowing Juventus to make a modest profit in the coming window, considering the Frenchman arrived on a free transfer from PSG. Currently, there are a number of clubs interested in Rabiot, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona headlining the queue.
Rabiot could be available at a reasonable price, which the report insists could be between €15-20 million. Juventus are looking to change the face of their midfield, as Allegri wants to sign Jorginho from Chelsea and hopes to deploy the UEFA Euro 2020 winner with Locatelli and Denis Zakaria next season.
Chelsea’s ownership situation seems precarious, and they cannot buy, sell or renew contracts of existing players. That includes Jorginho, who has a contract until 2023. While the new ownership issues are likely to be resolved in the next few weeks, the Blues are expected to enter the transfer window for multiple players.
Their focus will be on signing top-notch central defenders, meaning they have to squeeze through funds to contemplate bringing in quality midfielders. Rabiot’s price tag makes him an economically viable option, which could attract Chelsea towards making an approach.
Their London rivals, Arsenal, are also interested in Rabiot. Mikel Arteta wants a new midfielder who can play as a left No.8, and the 27-year-old French international fits the role. Like Chelsea, Arsenal will focus their efforts and funds on other areas, meaning a financially suitable option would be their lookout.
Barcelona are also keen on signing the midfielder, as the Catalans want someone with experience and ability to fit into Xavi Hernandez’s system. Rabiot has all those attributes and could be a viable option for Barcelona from a financial aspect.
The 27-year-old French international could be destined to leave Juventus in the summer, and the Bianconeri will be keen on using the funds generated from the sale to invest in a new midfielder that suits Allegri’s ideas.
