James Rodriguez could return to the Premier League with interest from Aston Villa and West Ham United intensifying.

According to Fichajes, Aston Villa and West Ham United are among clubs keen to sign James Rodriguez. The Colombian is seeking a return to European football, suggesting he still has plenty to give at the top level.

James Rodriguez left Everton for Qatar side Al-Rayyan under tricky circumstances after problems with then-manager Rafael Benitez. After a season in the middle east, the Colombian seeks a return to European Football, insisting he still has much to offer at the top level.

He hinted at a possible return to Everton but would be open to other offers if the Toffees end up in the Championship. Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested, as Diego Simeone looks to make a creative addition. However, if there is an opportunity from the Premier League, Rodriguez may consider that.

There could be plenty of clubs seeking Rodriguez if he can sort his exit from Al-Rayyan. Aston Villa and West Ham United are ready to battle if the former Real Madrid superstar decides on a Premier League return.

Aston Villa are prioritising the signing of Philippe Coutinho and planning talks with Barcelona over the transfer fee. The Brazilian could cost £40 million, and if the Premier League side cannot agree on a fee, Steven Gerrard could look at an alternative solution.

Rodriguez could become an attractive proposition for the Villans, as Gerrard could fill the void left by the Brazilian. The Midlands side can offer him decent wages, making Villa Park a smart destination for the Colombian.

Meanwhile. David Moyes wants to add a creative playmaker to his team at West Ham United. Rodriguez could become a fantastic option if he becomes available. The Colombian has a taste of Premier League football and could fit in at the London club with ease.

West Ham retain an interest in Jesse Lingard since failing to sign him last summer. But the Manchester United star may be tempted to sign for Newcastle, with the Magpies interested in the attacker. Moyes could then turn his attention towards Rodriguez as an alternative.

Both clubs could be interesting destinations for Rodriguez to play top-level football. And it remains to be seen if either Aston Villa or West Ham United make an approach for the former Real Madrid playmaker.
