Tottenham Hotspur have made the first move to sign one of their desired targets in Ridvan Yilmaz this summer.
According to a report from Turkiye Gazatesi, Tottenham Hotspur have tabled an €8 million offer to sign Ridvan Yilmaz. The Premier League giants have been following the progress of the young Besiktas left-back for quite some time now and it appears the club have started the operation to snap him up in the summer.
Besiktas have no intention to offload their prized youngster for anything less than the €10 million mark. But they could face pressure from the player, whose dream is to play in England. Hence, he has asked Besiktas for leniency in facilitating the transfer, and negotiations could move to an advanced stage if the Turkish giants accept their offer.
A native of Istanbul, Yilmaz came through the ranks at Besiktas before being promoted to the senior side in the summer of 2020. Since then, he has established himself as a crucial member of the first team, racking up four goals and seven assists in a total of 59 competitive appearances.
As evidenced by his productivity, Yilmaz is a full-back known for his attacking prowess. He can make powering runs forward, providing width out wide and offering additional creative support to the attackers. Standing at just 1.74m, the youngster’s low centre of gravity further helps him squeeze through tight spaces, making him quite an asset in possession.
As mentioned earlier, Tottenham have been scouting the young left-back for quite some time now. They have been impressed with his qualities going forward, with Antonio Conte prepared to snap him up in the summer transfer window.
Ridvan Yilman is likely being considered as an alternative for Sergio Reguilon next season. The Spaniard is currently the only reliable option at left-back for Conte and has been highly inconsistent in his performances since arriving from Real Madrid. There are even reports suggesting Conte’s desire to offload Reguilon in the summer.
The addition of someone like Yilmaz, therefore, could prove to be very useful. The youngster can offer an attacking outlet and could thus be an ideal fit for Conte’s system that usually incorporates two offensive wing-backs. And for a fee of less than €10 million, the 20-year-old could indeed prove to be a bargain for the Londoners.
