Aston Villa and Newcastle United are reportedly ready to rival Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Seko Fofana this summer.

According to But! Football Club, Seko Fofana could be on the verge of leaving RC Lens in the summer. The midfielder is prepared to take the next step in his career and has no shortage of suitors. AC Milan, Marseille and Lyon are among the clubs in contention to sign the player in the summer.

In the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur have been closely monitoring the situation of the 26-year-old. But it appears the north London giants are now set to face fresh competition from league rivals Aston Villa and Newcastle United in the race to sign the RC Lens operator this summer.

Aston Villa’s interest in Fofana is hardly surprising as Steven Gerrard is keen on adding midfield reinforcements in the summer. There are already uncertainties surrounding the future of Douglas Luiz, amid interest from Arsenal while Marvelous Nakamba has been unlucky with injuries.

Newcastle United are not facing a similar situation. But the club could undergo a massive overhaul in the summer, with Isaac Hayden among the players likely to be offloaded. Moreover, Sean Longstaff has been linked with a move to West Brom, potentially paving the way for Eddie Howe to go after a new midfielder.

As for Tottenham, they are in the market for a new midfielder who can compete with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur for a place in the starting eleven next season. The club may also need to replace Harry Winks, who is a target for Crystal Palace.

Seko Fofana could be an ideal signing for any of these three Premier League clubs. Formerly of Udinese, the 26-year-old offers vast experience at the highest level of football and has been one of the most consistent performers at Lens since joining the club in the summer of 2020.

During his time in Ligue 1, Fofana has shown a commendable work ethic in the middle of the park, while his consistency and leadership have played a key role in helping the club enjoy unprecedented success under Franck Haise.

Fofana is now ready to take the next step in his career, and his style of play could be ideal for the physical nature of the Premier League. And with Tottenham, Aston Villa and Newcastle United interested, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the RC Lens midfielder this summer.
