Gabriel Jesus seeking Manchester City exit

Gabriel Jesus is reportedly ready to quit Manchester City in the summer, with the Citizens prepared to listen to offers for the Brazilian striker.

According to Brazilian outlet Lance, Gabriel Jesus is likely to quit Manchester City in the summer as he seeks a new challenge elsewhere. The forward has been somewhat marginalised under Pep Guardiola this season, with the Premier League club ready to listen to offers after the season ends.

Gabriel Jesus was primed to leave Manchester City last summer as Pep Guardiola indicated he was ready to change his attacking options. But the Premier League club’s inability to sign Harry Kane prompted them to keep hold of the Brazilian, who has performed well this term.

A return of seven goals and 11 assists in all competitions has vindicated Guardiola’s decision as Manchester City remain in the hunt for the UEFA Champions League and Premier League crowns. However, in the coming summer, the Citizens are likely to sign a marquee striker, which may allow them to relieve Jesus from his role.

Manchester City are inching closer to signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, which will all but end Jesus’s time at the club. The Brazilian has a huge reputation from his time in the Premier League thus far, which could go a long way in helping him secure a move to a big club during the summer window.

There appears to be no shortage of suitors for Gabriel Jesus either, with growing interest from Italy, Spain and France. Barcelona are considering a move if reports are accurate, while Juventus and Inter Milan have also shown admiration.

The Italian champions could move for Jesus if they lose Lautaro Martinez, who remains a target for several Premier League clubs. However, Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in Jesus, and they may seek a new centre-forward, considering Kylian Mbappe could leave in the summer.

Jesus has had a fruitful time in Manchester, scoring 89 times in over 220 appearances for Manchester United and winning the Premier League title three times. He could add a fourth league crown when the current campaign ends, while the elusive Champions League trophy is also a realistic possibility.

Jesus has served Guardiola’s ideas well at the club, playing as an able deputy to Sergio Aguero for most parts, and shining when thrust with the responsibility to lead the line. However, with a year left on his deal, clubs could look to table a reasonable offer and swoop the 25-year-old away from the Etihad Stadium when the summer window opens up.
