Fran Garcia closing in on joining Real Madrid

Fran Garcia is reportedly getting closer to returning to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, with talks over a transfer underway.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Fran Garcia could return to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, merely a year after leaving Los Blancos. The Spanish left-back is the subject of talks between Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano over a possible move ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Fran Garcia has enjoyed a breakthrough at the first-team level since joining Rayo Vallecano from Real Madrid. The 22-year-old initially joined Los Franjirrojos on a loan deal for the 2020/21 season before completing a permanent transfer to Estadio de Vallecas last summer.

The Spanish left-back has enjoyed a solid 2021/22 campaign, chipping in with one goal and one assist in 31 appearances across all competitions. Garcia’s exploits for Rayo Vallecano have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid setting sights on him and keen on bringing him back to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The summer transfer window will be a crucial period for Real Madrid, with Florentino Perez set to oversee sweeping changes to the first-team squad. One of the shuffles will concern club captain Marcelo, whose Real Madrid contract will run out in the summer transfer window.

While the veteran Brazilian left-back is keen on staying put at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid might not offer him a new contract. In addition, Miguel Gutierrez faces an uncertain future at the Spanish club, with the Merengues likely to send the academy graduate out on loan in the summer transfer window.

Marcelo’s permanent exit and Gutierrez’s loan departure will leave Carlo Ancelotti with Ferland Mendy as the only natural left-back at his disposal. But the Frenchman has struggled with injuries this season, prompting Real Madrid to enter the market for a left-back, with Garcia emerging as a viable target.

The 22-year-old is now closing in on rejoining Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, with talks underway between Los Blancos and Rayo Vallecano. The report also mentions that Real Madrid will only need to pay 50 per cent of the transfer fee as they reserve 50 per cent of his rights. It will be interesting to see if Garcia returns to the Bernabeu in the summer.
