Liverpool set to offer new deal to Sadio Mane

Premier League giants Liverpool are reportedly prepared to tie Sadio Mane down to a long-term contract by offering him a new deal.

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool are ready to reward Sadio Mane for his explosive performances and his services over the years by offering him a new deal. The winger has just over 12 months remaining on his current contract at Anfield, leading many to speculate about a potential exit in the summer.

Liverpool, though, have no intention to offload one of their attacking assets. The player himself is believed to be keen on prolonging his stay at Anfield and feels he deserves a lucrative new deal to boot.

Since joining Liverpool in 2016, Mane has racked up 115 goals and 45 assists in just 259 competitive appearances. His impressive productivity in the final third has been critical in helping Liverpool seal the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League title, among other major trophies.

Mane’s 18 goals this term have even helped the Reds stand the chance of winning the quadruple, with the Merseyside giants still alive in all the three major competitions whilst securing the Carabao Cup earlier in the campaign.

Despite all his success, though, Liverpool have appeared reluctant to offer a new deal to any of their two trusted forwards in Mane and Mohamed Salah. But it seems there has been a shift in stance in recent weeks, with the Reds reportedly closing in on a new deal with Salah, while they are also prepared to offer a new deal to Mane as well.

However, the report suggests Liverpool are not willing to break the bank for Mane. While they may offer him an improved contract, they are not in a position to make the Senegalese international one of the highest-paid footballers in the Premier League.

Liverpool might not even match the offer from other interested parties, including Real Madrid, who are closely monitoring the situation. As mentioned earlier, Mane is determined to continue his career at Anfield, but he will have to be content with a seemingly distinguishing role as Jurgen Klopp looks to undergo a seamless transition in the offensive unit.

Liverpool had notably brought in Luis Diaz in January and will sign Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho in the summer. Such new signings could greatly affect Mane’s status in the first team, though given the Senegalese has performed this term, he has no good reasons to worry about it anytime soon.
