Juventus interested in Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric

Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly considering a Bosman move for Luka Modric if he leaves Real Madrid as a free agent.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Sergio Santos, Luka Modric has two offers from overseas clubs on his table over a possible Bosman move in the summer transfer window. Serie A giants Juventus are keen on signing the Real Madrid veteran on a free transfer.

Luka Modric has spent nearly a decade at Real Madrid since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2012. After experiencing teething problems at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Croat has carved out a place for himself in Real Madrid folklore and will go down in history as one of their greatest-ever players.

To date, the 36-year-old has made 428 appearances for Real Madrid, chipping in with 31 goals and 70 assists in the process. But Real Madrid will need to move quickly to secure Modric’s future, with Serie A giants Juventus keen on prising him away in a Bosman move in the summer transfer window.

The interest from Juventus might be surprising but is understandable, considering how poorly their midfielders have performed in the last few years. While Manuel Locatelli and Denis Zakaria are primed for a bright future at the Allianz Stadium, the Serie A giants need another reliable option in the middle of the park to stabilise the team.

Modric is thus a viable target for the Bianconeri, who have already tabled an offer to the Real Madrid veteran over a possible Bosman move in the summer transfer window. Modric could be a short-term replacement for any one of Arthur, Aaron Ramsey, and Adrien Rabiot, who all face uncertain futures at Juventus amid links with foreign clubs.

Modric recently addressed the widespread speculation surrounding his future, hinting that he sees himself at Real Madrid next season. But with mere months left for his contract to expire, Los Blancos will need to be decisive, especially with Serie A giants Juventus lurking in the background.

In addition to Juventus, Modric also has an offer from a Qatari club. But with Real Madrid keen on keeping hold of the 36-year-old, the Croatian international will likely remain at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer transfer window.
