Juventus eyeing summer move for Timo Werner

Juventus are eyeing a swoop for Chelsea’s attacking outcast Timo Werner, who is available in the summer.

According to a report from Fichajes, Juventus have identified Timo Werner as a potential target for the summer. The Bianconeri are desperate to shore up their options in the goalscoring department ahead of the new season, with the Chelsea attacker emerging as one of the ideal candidates.

Juventus are aware that Chelsea could offload Werner in the summer if they can come up with a lucrative offer. The Serie A giants rate the German highly and consider him as an ideal strike-partner for January signing Dusan Vlahovic, who has already hit the ground running since arriving from Fiorentina.

During his time at RB Leipzig, Werner used to thrive alongside the physically astute centre-forward in Yussuf Poulsen. The same formula hasn’t quite worked out well at Chelsea, though, with the forward netting just nine Premier League goals since joining the club back in 2020.

The Blues are not happy with the way Werner and Romelu Lukaku have performed this season, with coach Thomas Tuchel ready to offload both of them in the summer in favour of a major overhaul in the goalscoring department.

Werner himself could favour a move to Juventus, where he can serve as a direct replacement for Paulo Dybala. The Argentine international is set to leave Turin in the summer after rejecting a contract extension offer. He has been linked with a move to Premier League, with Arsenal and Newcastle United interested.

Dybala’s exit could pave the way for Werner to become a vital cog in the Juventus frontline, where he could form a strong attacking combination alongside Vlahovic.

Juventus are not the only club in contention to sign Timo Werner, though, with the former RB Leipzig star emerging as a potential target for Borussia Dortmund. It appears the Bundesliga giants are considering the German international as a replacement for Erling Haaland, with Chelsea reportedly willing to hold talks over a possible move.

However, it remains to be seen whether Dortmund or Juventus are in a position to afford Werner. The striker came to Stamford Bridge for a fortune and Chelsea would want to recoup most of the value, if they are to offload the German.
