Arsenal and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Gianluca Scamacca, whose move to Inter Milan could be in significant doubt.

According to FC Inter News, as relayed by TEAMtalk, Arsenal and Newcastle United are sniffing an opportunity to make a move for Gianluca Scamacca in the summer window. The Italian striker was reportedly on the brink of joining Inter Milan, although Sassuolo’s transfer fee demands could scupper a deal.

Gianluca Scamacca is forging a reputation for being one of the most unique and well-rounded forwards in Europe’s top five leagues. The Sassuolo striker is revered for his all-around game and ability to bring others into play. His record of 13 goals from 28 Serie A games this season also indicates his improvements with regard to his productivity in the final third.

Scamacca was heavily linked with a move to Fiorentina as a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, who joined Juventus in January. The latter was Arsenal’s primary target during the January transfer window, and Mikel Arteta could now be looking at Scamacca as an alternative for the Serbian international.

Scamacca is believed to be keen on staying put in Italy for now. Hence, there have been talks of a move to Inter Milan, with whom the Sassuolo forward has reportedly agreed on personal terms worth €2 million per season.

However, Sassuolo’s demand of a €40 million fee may be bothering Inter, who could call the move off in the coming days. The Serie A champions are not equipped to spend that kind of money given their current financial problems. Their inability to pay the asking price could open the doors for Premier League clubs interested in Scamacca.

Arsenal are searching for new strikers heading into the summer transfer window, as they could lose their two remaining senior forwards after the season ends. Scamacca could become a strong option, and Sassuolo’s asking price could also be met. The Italian certainly fits what Arteta may want from his frontline forward, although the big task would be to convince him to leave Italy.

Arsenal are looking at other options such as Richarlison, Darwin Nunez, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Victor Osimhen. All those options are will cost a significant amount, and hence Scamacca could be a stylistically and financially viable fit for the north Londoners. To that end, they have already knocked on the doors of the Italian forward to assess the possibility of a move.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United are also looking for a new striker to refresh their options upfront. Given Callum Wilson’s injury record and Chris Wood’s indifferent form, it is only natural for the Magpies to want to add another centre-forward to their ranks in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle will look to steal a march on Inter due to the Serie A club’s inability to meet Sassuolo’s valuation. Given the deep pockets of their owners, the Italian certainly falls in their price range, although convincing him to join them over teams in European competitions may prove challenging.
