Arsenal and AS Roma are reportedly interested in signing second-choice Barcelona goalkeeper Neto Murara in the summer transfer window.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal and AS Roma are considering making a swoop for Barcelona goalkeeper Neto, who is keen on securing an exit in the summer transfer window.

Neto signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2019 from fellow La Liga club Valencia as part of a deal that saw Jasper Cillessen move the other way. The Brazilian, however, has had a hard time at Camp Nou, having had to play second-fiddle to Marc-Andre ter Stegen throughout his stint with the Blaugrana.

As a result, Neto has been restricted to just 20 appearances for Barcelona in almost three years with the club, with just three of those coming in the ongoing campaign. The 32-year-old has been unhappy with his situation for a while now and has been angling for a move away, only to see the Catalans hold on to him as they wish to have an experienced backup for ter Stegen.

But that could change in the summer as Barcelona are prepared to part ways with the former Juventus man and bring in a new goalkeeper. Despite his lack of playing time over the past few seasons, Neto has some admirers in the transfer market in the form of Arsenal and AS Roma.

Arsenal bolstered their goalkeeping department last summer with the signing of Aaron Ramsdale, who has been a revelation at the Emirates this term. The England international has ousted Bernd Leno as the first-choice custodian. The German goalkeeper is considering leaving the club at the end of the season, with Newcastle United interested.

It would leave Arsenal needing a new No. 2 who can provide cover for Ramsdale, with Neto emerging as a potential target for the north London giants. However, they will have to stave off competition from Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma, who are also interested in the 32-year-old Barcelona shot-stopper.

The Giallorossi brought in Rui Patricio from Wolves last summer to strengthen their roster, and the veteran Portuguese has been a regular in the lineup. In Daniel Fuzato, Roma have an able backup option as well. So, the interest in Neto comes off as a bit puzzling unless they are planning to offload either Patricio or Fuzato in the summer. Nevertheless, the report claims that the Italian giants remain keen on him.

Neto is also attracting interest from the likes of Everton and Aston Villa. An exit from Camp Nou looks very much on the cards for the 32-year-old. As to where his next destination will be, only time will tell.
