Arsenal are set to explore the possibility of signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but will have to battle it out with Napoli for the Georgian’s signature.

According to Italian outlet Area Napoli, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is attracting strong interest from Napoli and Arsenal. The Gunners even attempted to bring the Georgian winger in March. Although political complications could play their part, the two clubs remain interested in roping in the Rubin Kazan star.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is a growing talent and one of the best prospects to come out of the Russian league. However, the country is mired with problems due to the invasion of Ukraine. The political tensions have led to sanctions on Russian clubs, with FIFA opening up a special transfer window for the players.

Such a decision allows players of Ukrainian and Russian clubs to join other teams until the end of the season. Many English clubs are exploring potential opportunities in the last few weeks, although the Premier League is unwilling to sanction such deals in order to protect the integrity of the competition.

Kvaratskhelia was one such player, eyed by Premier League sides such as Tottenham and Leeds United. Arsenal were also reportedly keen on the winger, with the club pondering bringing him for the last part of the season. However, there were no movements from any of the clubs as of yet, although things could change come summer.

Kvaratskhelia eventually returned to Georgia, joining Dinamo Batumi on a temporary deal. But, heading into the summer, there is interest from Arsenal and Napoli, who could battle it out for the left-winger after the season ends. The two sides have fought several battles for player signings in the past, and the Italian side are looking to get one over the Gunners this time out.

Nicolas Pepe is the prime example of a transfer war, with Arsenal pipping Napoli for the Ivorian. The Gunners are looking for a new winger to develop as part of a young squad in the summer. Interestingly, Pepe could leave the club, opening up space for a player like Kvaratskhelia to join in.

Arsenal are also linked to Cody Gakpo, who plays in a similar position, although the Dutch star would be an expensive acquisition. Kvaratskhelia will be a much cheaper alternative, as Rubin Kazan may fold for a fee not exceeding €15 million.

On the other hand, Napoli have been keeping tabs on the youngster for some time now. They are keen on signing him as they wish to replace Lorenzo Insigne and could approach to bring the player to Italy in the summer.

Kvaratskhelia has a relatively high ceiling to flourish, and he could become an asset for either of these clubs. If the interest is concrete, both clubs could be set for a battle, which will be interesting, considering this player will not cost too much like Pepe.
