Newcastle United have reportedly held talks with representatives of winger Moses Simon over a summer move, as the Magpies eye attacking reinforcements.

According to French outlet ButFootballclub, Moses Simon is a target for Newcastle United heading into the summer window, as the Premier League club eye attacking reinforcements. They want the player to add depth to the side and ease the creative burden on Allan Saint-Maximin.

Moses Simon came to be known for his consistent displays for Nantes over the last few seasons and could leave the French side in the summer. While his performances have been modest at best, he does offer a reliable outlet from wide areas.

Many teams across England and Europe have been keen on his services, with the January window proving a testing time for Nantes. The French side managed to keep him despite offers from the Premier League, but they may be powerless in the summer window.

Leeds United and Newcastle United were interested in the winger in January, and the Magpies reportedly are ready to revive the chase. They remain on the hunt for a wide attacker to ease the burden on Saint-Maximin, their undisputed starter on the left side.

They have Simon on their radar and could pursue a move in the summer window. The Nigerian is not the only player being targeted as Newcastle are also interested in Bayer Leverkusen’s Mousa Diaby, among others. However, Simon could be a lot cheaper than the Bundesliga man.

The Magpies have already made their first move after holding talks with the 26-year-old attacker’s representatives in recent days. They have reportedly made their first salary proposal, and with a few tweaks, personal terms could be agreed upon before coming to terms over the final fee with Nantes.

Simon could be a solid addition to provide cover for Saint-Maximin, who has been overused this season. But the Magpies will likely face competition for the 26-year-old attacker, with Marseille and even Leeds United interested in him.
