West Ham United ready to offer £25 million for Armando Broja

West Ham United are ready to offer £25 million for Chelsea forward Armando Broja who continues to impress while on loan at Southampton.

According to Sport, West Ham United are ready to make a substantial offer for Chelsea star Armando Broja who continues to go from strength to strength on loan at Southampton.

The Albanian joined the Blues academy in 2009 and has since risen through the ranks, making his senior debut for the club in 2020 against Everton. He enjoyed a fruitful spell out on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in 2020/21 and has now taken his game to greater heights at St Mary’s.

Broja has made 27 appearances for the Saints across all competitions, scoring nine goals and assisting one more. While the numbers are impressive, he has also managed to capture the attention of the onlookers with his ability to link up with teammates and his movement on the field. These are the makings of a quality player should he continue his development at the same pace.

The 20-year-old’s performances have also caught the eyes of Arsenal, who are looking to continue their rebuild under Mikel Arteta. The Gunners lost Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January transfer window and look set to part ways with Alexandre Lacazette in the summer, while Eddie Nketiah’s deal also expires in the summer.

Arsenal already have a young core of players at their disposal, and Broja would be an excellent addition. Securing a top-four finish this season could accelerate their efforts to get back amongst the elite of English football.

This spells bad news for West Ham, who are also in the market for a striker. David Moyes’ side were the dark horses for a top-four finish but have seen their chances diminish in recent weeks. A major reason for this has been their over-reliance on Michail Antonio to get the goals all season.

The Hammers will do well to add an alternative going into the new season. They appear to have earmarked Broja to be that man and are ready to offer £25 million for the Albanian’s services. He will not just give Moyes a dynamic presence upfront but also a long term solution for his striking woes.

More so, Antonio will be 32 at the end of the month, and it is necessary that the Hammers plan ahead. In Broja, they might have just the player that meets their expectations. Whether Chelsea will be willing to hand the youngster a spot on their roster next season or risk selling him to a direct rival remains to be seen.
