Juventus are reportedly considering a summer move for Real Madrid and Brazil midfield mainstay Casemiro and are willing to pay €40 million for him.
According to Diario Gol, Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has emerged as a transfer target for Serie A giants Juventus heading into the summer transfer window. The Bianconeri are willing to pay €40 million for his services.
Casemiro arrived at Real Madrid in January 2013 from Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo. Signed initially on loan, his transfer was made permanent in the summer of the same year. But only after a loan stint away at FC Porto in the 2014/15 campaign did the midfielder become a regular at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Casemiro has not looked back ever since, developing into one of the best defensive midfielders in the game. The 30-year-old has made 321 appearances for Real Madrid and has been an integral figure in the success that they have tasted over the past six years or so.
The Brazilian international’s performances have dipped slightly in the ongoing campaign. And with Real Madrid planning to bring in new midfielders in the summer, Juventus are planning to test their resolve by launching an offer for the veteran star.
Juventus have been going through somewhat of a rut over the past couple of years. However, in recent weeks, things are starting to look up for the Bianconeri after an impressive January transfer window that saw them sign Denis Zakaria and Dusan Vlahovic. The duo has made an immediate impact, helping Juventus turn their fortunes around.
And manager Massimiliano Allegri wants to build on that with another splurge in the summer to bolster several areas on the pitch. Even though the Old Lady brought in Manuel Locatelli last summer and Zakaria in January, another midfielder remains on the agenda for the Turin giants. It is understandable considering the uncertain futures of Adrien Rabiot and Arthur Melo.
A move for Chelsea mainstay Jorginho has been touted recently, but Casemiro, too, is on the agenda for Juventus. The report states that the Bianconeri are willing to offer as much as €40 million for the Real Madrid midfielder.
However, he signed a new contract with the club last year, extending his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2025. And the current La Liga leaders have no intentions of letting the 30-year-old leave, despite their plans to bring in new players in the middle of the park. So, Juventus may have to look elsewhere to reinforce their squad.
