PSG interested in N’Golo Kante

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly weighing up a summer move for N’Golo Kante, with his future at Chelsea in some doubt.

According to the Daily Telegraph, N’Golo Kante has emerged as a target for Paris Saint-Germain, with his Chelsea future uncertain. The French midfielder could decide on the next step in his career after the current season, with much to evaluate.

N’Golo Kante is heralded as one of the best players in the world in his position. Since breaking into the Premier League with Leicester City and helping them win an improbable top-flight title, the Frenchman has gone from strength to strength to enhance his growing reputation.

Chelsea signed him back in 2016 for what now seems like a bargain. Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, the French midfielder has won almost every possible honour at club level while also helping France to win the FIFA World Cup in Russia in 2018.

If he can win the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday, it would round off a terrific Chelsea career. However, his future at the west London club is in doubt, with suggestions of the midfielder’s potential departure picking up heat.

Two of Chelsea’s primary central midfielders, Kante and Jorginho, have their contracts expiring in the summer of 2023. Unless the club agrees a new deal with the duo, they could depart in the coming summer, or the club will risk losing them on a free transfer next year.

Chelsea are known to have a policy of offering just a twelve-month extension to players aged over 30. Kante will be 31 next month, but the Blues might make an exception for him. However, the Blues are already sizing up potential midfield targets, including Declan Rice, who is keen on re-joining the club.

Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as a potential destination for Kante if he decides to leave Chelsea in the summer. They might look at the French midfielder as a reliable replacement for Marco Verratti, who has been heavily linked with Chelsea.

The Parisians could sign Kante to improve their squad after a brilliant window last summer. PSG are also linked with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba for a free transfer, but if an opportunity arises for Kante, they might take it up.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea are willing to bend their rules for one of their greatest players in the last decade, who has helped the club reach new heights.
