German giants Bayern Munich have made a fresh move to land soon-to-be out of contract Chelsea star Andreas Christensen.
According to Sport Bild, German champions Bayern Munich continue to be interested in securing the services of Chelsea star Andreas Christensen in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Danish international came through the ranks at Brondby before moving to Chelsea in 2012. He made his first-team bow for the club in 2014 and is today a senior defender in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
Christensen has impressed under the German and played a key role in Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League win last season. He came off the substitutes bench in the final for an injured Thiago Silva and helped shut out an impressive Manchester City outfit.
Christensen is currently in the final few months of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is free to talk to interested foreign clubs regarding a pre-contract agreement. Negotiations with Chelsea have gotten nowhere, and there is every reason to believe that the 25-year-old could seek a new challenge at the end of the current season.

One of the teams interested in his services are Bayern, and the German giants have already made a beeline for the player’s representatives. As things stand, Die Roten’s offer is still too low, and the player remains committed to Chelsea’s cause for now. With still much left to be played for, Tuchel will be glad to know that his defender is a consummate professional and has his priorities straight.
Bayern are in the market for a defender following Niklas Sule’s decision to join domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free in the summer. Julian Nagelsmann’s side are keen to take advantage of the Bosman market themselves and land Christensen. As things stand, the Dane is not eager to talk to other clubs himself and has left that to his agents.
Whether the situation will change if an acceptable offer is made remains to be seen. Die Roten signed Dayot Upamecano last summer, but the Frenchman has so far failed to get into his groove consistently. On the other hand, Christensen is not a flashy defender but an effective one and can help them cover for the loss of Sule rather effectively.
The 25-year-old’s decision could also have a huge impact on Chelsea’s transfer plans for the summer. Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta are also out of contract at the end of the season and are yet to pen fresh terms. While Thiago Silva is going strong, he is no spring chicken and needs to be managed carefully. So, an exodus of senior defenders is the last thing that Tuchel needs at the moment.
Defensive solidity has marked the German manager’s stint at Chelsea, and Christensen has played a key role in that success. Whether he is enjoying his last dance in Blue and moves on at the end of the season remains to be seen.
