Real Madrid will reportedly face stiff competition from Bayern Munich in the race to sign 19-year-old Dutch prodigy Ryan Gravenberch.

According to reputed Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Real Madrid will not be the only high profile club in pursuit of Ryan Gravenberch in the summer transfer window. The 19-year-old Ajax prodigy is also a key target for Bayern Munich, with the Dutch midfielder open to joining the Bundesliga heavyweights.

Ryan Gravenberch has been in the spotlight since breaking into the first-team setup at Ajax as a 16-year-old in September 2018. Since then, the Dutchman has gone from strength to strength for club and country, establishing himself as a key figure at both international and club levels.

To date, the 19-year-old has turned out 91 times for Ajax, chipping in with ten goals and 11 assists in the process. But the Dutch giants are in a spot of bother over Gravenberch’s long-term future as he has entered the final 18 months of his contract and is unlikely to sign a new deal. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have been alerted to the teenage prodigy’s availability.

The interest from Real Madrid primarily stems from Toni Kroos and Luka Modric’s advancing years. The two ageing midfield stalwarts are in the twilight of their respective careers, with Modric, in particular, on his last legs. In addition, there is mounting uncertainty surrounding the futures of Dani Ceballos and Isco.

The two Spanish midfielders will likely depart the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window, necessitating the arrival of a player like Gravenberch. To that end, the 19-year-old will reportedly soon enter talks with Real Madrid. But the Spanish giants face stiff competition from Bayern Munich in the race to sign the Dutch prodigy.

Bayern Munich might need to enter the market for a midfielder in the summer transfer window, as Corentin Tolisso will exit the Allianz Arena as a free agent. Interestingly, the Frenchman has recently been linked with Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich could replace him with a target for the Merengues.

For his part, Gravenberch is open to joining the Bundesliga heavyweights in the summer transfer window, which serves as a blow for Real Madrid. But with several months still left for the window to open, Real Madrid will hope to claw back in the race to sign the 19-year-old Dutch prodigy.
