Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has emerged as a potential transfer target for German champions Bayern Munich.

According to Fichajes, Bayern Munich are considering the prospect of signing a new right-back in the summer transfer window and have identified Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a potential target.

Bayern Munich currently have Benjamin Pavard as their first choice on the right side of the defence, but the Frenchman has not been convincing enough on a consistent basis. Bouna Sarr, meanwhile, has failed to settle in and make an impression in Bavaria either while Niklas Sule, who has been used at right-back at times, will be joining Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

So, manager Julian Nagelsmann is looking to bolster the squad with the addition of a new right-sided full-back. And, as per the report, Aaron Wan-Bissaka of Manchester United has popped up on the radars of Bayern Munich as a prospective option for the summer transfer window.

A product of the Crystal Palace youth academy, Wan-Bissaka made the switch to Manchester United in 2019, arriving for a transfer fee of around £50 million. Upon arrival, he immediately became the first-choice right-back at Old Trafford with former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring him over Diogo Dalot.

While the Englishman has proven himself to be an able defender, his attacking play leaves a lot to be desired.  Furthermore, the 24-year-old has endured a major dip in form this season, which has seen him lose his starting berth under interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who has regularly picked Dalot.

To date, Wan-Bissaka has made 121 appearances for Manchester United in which he has contributed with two goals and ten assists. But with Wan-Bissaka losing his starting berth at the club and the Red Devils expected to bring in a new right-back in the summer, the former Crystal Palace ace could possibly be allowed to leave.

Bayern Munich have now emerged as a potential destination for Wan-Bissaka, although they are also looking at other options such as Ridle Baku of VfL Wolfsburg and Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi. The German champions have also been heavily linked with Barcelona’s Sergino Dest in the past.

As for Wan-Bissaka, his future at Manchester United could depend on several factors, including who becomes the next manager as well as the future of Diogo Dalot, who is courting interest from Fiorentina. The 24-year-old’s current contract with the Red Devils runs until the summer of 2024 with the club retaining the option of extending by another twelve months.
