Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich join race to sign Armando Broja

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have reportedly emerged as potential destinations for in-demand Chelsea prospect Armando Broja.

According to The Sun, Chelsea loanee Armando Broja is seemingly emerging as one of the most in-demand young strikers in Europe. The Chelsea youngster currently plies his trade at Southampton, having joined the club on a season-long loan deal last summer. He has made a solid impression during his time at St. Mary’s so far, attracting interest from a host of top clubs across the continent.

Southampton are keen on making Broja’s move permanent, but that seems an unlikely proposition, especially with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund recently joining the race to sign the Chelsea prospect.

The report suggests the two Bundesliga giants are closely monitoring the progress of Broja, with Dortmund, in particular, preparing for life without Erling Haaland. The Norwegian superstar has been recently linked with a move to Manchester United, among other clubs across Europe, including Chelsea.

Dortmund have been linked with a move for Red Bull Salzburg starlet Karim Adeyemi, but it appears new sporting director Sebastian Kehl is eyeing a more like for like replacement.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, are also on the hunt for a young attacker as Robert Lewandowski slowly reaches the final phase of his career. The Pole is yet to even pen a new deal at the club, though many expect him to remain in Bavaria, once again competing for the Ballon d’Or and possibly secure another UEFA Champions League title.

Armando Broja could prove to be a solid investment for both Bundesliga outfits, given his profile and the potential to become an asset for any club in the world. At the age of just 20, the Chelsea prospect has already netted six goals for Southampton this season and could potentially find even more successes in the Bundesliga.

In Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho, Dortmund have had tremendous luck when signing players from English clubs in recent years. They will be hoping for a similar level of success with Broja, although the report does suggest Chelsea have no intention to offload the youngster anytime soon.

With the Albanian signing a fresh contract just before moving to Southampton, he is evidently considered a long-term asset at the club. As such, it won’t be surprising to see Thomas Tuchel include the 20-year-old in his plans next season, especially amid the struggles of current first-team strikers in Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.
