Tottenham Hotspur squandered another chance to claim top spot in Group D as they played a dull draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

Tottenham wasted another opportunity in the UEFA Champions League as their hunt for that second elusive win continued. A lack of finishing hurt the away side, but a valuable point could be of massive bonus given the current competitive scenario in Group D.

Tottenham were expected to put in an assured display after their disheartening loss at the hands of bitter rival Arsenal in the North London derby. Emerson Royal was energetic throughout the first half, but his powered volley was of no use as it did not bother Kevin Trapp much in the goal.

Son Heung-min laid two cutting-edge crosses into the penalty area, but Harry Kane missed both occasions. The Englishman then fired one past the goal before venting his frustration once again. Eintracht Frankfurt almost made Tottenham pay for their profligacy when they came close through Ansgar Knauff.

The German wide man tried an acrobatic volley, but Hugo Lloris was aware of the threat and quickly grabbed the ball. Jesper Lindstrom then had his moment as a moment of madness almost saw Tottenham lose the plot. Spurs are now placed second with four points and will be the favourites despite their poor showing. The Hard Tackle now runs the rule over Antonio Conte’s men.

Hugo Lloris: 5/10

Lloris had another edgy day, and questions will be raised over his ability to play the ball with his feet. A couple of risky passes could be avoided but the Tottenham captain made a smart save to deny Ansgar Knauff from scoring.

Cristian Romero: 6/10

The Argentine was spot on with his challenges and tackles as he snuffed out the danger with ease. He looked a bit unconvincing while being pressed but otherwise had a good day.

Eric Dier: 6.5/10

Dier got troubled aerially a couple of times, but he was there to avert any kind of danger. Another solid day in the office.

Clement Lenglet: 7/10

Lenglet was the most influential among the three defenders. He was crisp with the ball and occasionally made darting runs forward.

Emerson Royal: 6/10

Emerson bombed down the right channel pretty frequently in the first half and had a chance but volleyed it in the air. He had a quiet second half.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: 7/10

A hardworking shift. Hojbjerg put in a rugged display in his usual style and also did his part in shoring up the defence sometimes.

Rodrigo Bentancur: 7/10

Bentancur lost possession once when he had to deal with Romero’s awful pass. He uniformly channelled the passes and made way for the wing-backs to join the attack.

Ivan Perisic: 6/10

Perisic did not get involved much in the final third and had a rather quiet game by his lofty standards.

Richarlison: 6/10

Richarlison looked lively in patches and lost the ball a number of times. But he created a couple of chances which could be made use of by his teammates.

Harry Kane: 6/10

Kane had some chances to provide a breakthrough, but his low drive missed the goal by a while. He lacked the intent and also looked lost at times.

Son Heung-min: 6/10

Son laid a number of balls to Kane, who could not convert them. He also had an opportunity when Richarlison fed him a lovely ball, but it got past the goal. The South Korean attacker is still searching for his first Champions League goal this term. His touches in the final third also let him down big time.

Sessegnon almost had his moment when his low cross caused a ruckus in the Eintracht Frankfurt box. He should be gunning for a start in the next match.
