Billy Gilmour impressed in his first start of the season while Tino Anjorin also had a good game as Chelsea drew 1-1 against FK Krasnodar.

Just a little after the halfway mark in the first-half, Krasnodar broke the deadlock with Remy Cabella applying the finishing touches to a fine team move that caught Chelsea napping. The Blues were back on level terms within three minutes though as Jorginho slotted home a cool penalty after Tammy Abraham was fouled in the box by Kaio.

Abraham had a couple of good chances to add to the scoreline on either side of the half-time but failed to find the back of the net while Kai Havertz also fluffed his lines after being played in by Tino Anjorin as Chelsea couldn’t grab a win at Stamford Bridge and had to settle for a point in their final group game of the UEFA Champions League.

Here’s how we at The Hard Tackle rated the performances of Frank Lampard’s men on Tuesday night against the Russian outfit.

Kepa Arrizabalaga: 6/10

Making a rare start, the world’s most expensive goalkeeper wasn’t called in action all that much by Krasnodar. However, was alert to make a decent stop to deny Wanderson in the second half. Not a lot Kepa could have done to stop Cabella’s goal.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 6/10

Was partly guilty for the visitors’ goal in the first half as the Chelsea skipper left a lot of space open on his flank. Improved with time though, making a few crucial blocks and interceptions, while being strong in duels both in the air and on the ground. Created a chance for Abraham which the striker couldn’t convert.

Andreas Christensen: 6.5/10

Handed a rare opportunity at the heart of the Real Madrid defence, Christensen wasn’t tested a great deal by the visitors on the night. Was accurate with his positioning, while being a strong presence in the air, winning the joint-highest four duels in the game. Distributed fairly well from the back, misplacing just 10 of his 83 passes.

Antonio Rudiger: 6.5/10

An assured display from the German international who hardly let anything past him on the night. Dominated aerial battles against the Russian outfit while also making a game-high six clearances. Attempted (88) and completed (77) the most number of passes in the game, although could have been a tad more adventurous with his distribution.

Emerson Palmieri: 6/10

Replacing Ben Chilwell at left-back, Emerson, who is a target for Juventus, showed good endeavour to push forward regularly to support the attackers. However, his crossing left a lot to be desired, while his delivery from corner-kicks could have been better as well. Solid defensively, completing a match-high four tackles but did concede a few unnecessary fouls in the second half.

Billy Gilmour: 8/10

Making his first start after a long injury layoff, the Chelsea youngster, who has been linked with Napoli of late, put in a fine display. Showed good energy and intent to push forward at every occasion and displayed some neat touches and footwork throughout.

Played three key passes, completed two dribbles, while misplacing just nine passes on the night. In addition, Gilmour was also strong in challenges during the defensive phases, managing two interceptions and one clearance. A step in the right direction for the Scotsman.

Jorginho: 7/10

Could have done better in the moments leading up to Cabella’s goal in the first half. But redeemed himself soon after with a nerveless penalty to draw Chelsea back on level terms. Sharp and accurate with his passing as usual but was guilty of keeping it too simple too often when the Blues needed that bit of spark to unlock the Krasnodar defence.

Mateo Kovacic: 6/10

An energetic presence in the middle, the Croatian was positive when on the ball and it was his pass that found Abraham in the box before the forward won the penalty. However, couldn’t make the desired impact before making way for N’Golo Kante in the second half.

Kai Havertz: 7/10

The only player to be retained in the starting XI from the weekend game against Leeds, Havertz had his moments when he executed some neat link-up with his teammates and created some chances from the right flank. Made two dribbles and three key passes but was let down by his first-touch when presented with the chance to win it for Chelsea in the second half.

Tammy Abraham: 5/10

Held up the ball well at the top and did well to win the penalty in the first half. However, should have scored after rounding off the goalkeeper in the first half but fired wide. Had another great opportunity in the second half but couldn’t find the back of the net. Needs to be more clinical in front of goal.

Tino Anjorin: 7/10

Making his first start for Chelsea, the teenage attacker showed great confidence after a nervy few minutes early on, as he displayed some neat touches and passes in the final third, linking up well with his teammates. Set Havertz up for a chance with a brilliant pass, but the German couldn’t apply the finishing touches. A promising full debut for Anjorin.

Substitutes

N’Golo Kante: 6/10

Replaced Kovacic in the 74th minute. Pushed forward with intent and injected more energy as Chelsea went in search of a winner.

Timo Werner: 6/10

Came on for Havertz for the final fifteen minutes. A lively cameo from the German, who got past defenders with ease and played in a couple of dangerous balls into the six-yard box but nobody got on the end of those.

Olivier Giroud: N/A

On for Anjorin with ten minutes left.
