Wayne Rooney broke his silence when he was asked about his reactions to recent comments by Cristiano Ronaldo.

As relayed by Give Me Sport, Wayne Rooney now responded back to the scathing attack by Cristiano Ronaldo on him. Ronaldo’s explosive interview id now doing the rounds as the 37-year-old accused Manchester United of betrayal and also attacked Erik ten Hag on how he handled the player this season.

In this interview with Piers Morgan, the former Real Madrid forward also talked about Manchester United’s facilities as he felt there has not been required upgradation of the training ground in the last few years.

Alongside speaking against his current manager, the player also took a dig at Rooney’s looks, which is deemed as pretty insensitive by a large part of the Red Devils supporters.

Manchester United are plotting their next move, and it is suggested the club could sue the player as he crossed all the limits to undermine the authority. A possible breach of contract is also being evaluated and the club is unlikely to offer him a payoff as the player has a substantial time left on his current contract.

Manchester United released a statement, stating they have initiated a process to deal with the aftermath of the interview by Ronaldo.

The statement read, “Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not be making further comments until this process reaches its conclusion.”

Rooney, who is known as one of the Manchester United legends, chose his words very carefully and also praised Ronaldo while answering back to his allegation.

“He’s a fantastic player. Him and Messi are probably the two best players to play the game. It’s not a criticism, what I’ve said is age comes to all of us, Cristiano is finding it hard to deal with that. He’s done an interview and it’s gone global, Bit strange some of the comments but I’m sure Manchester United will deal with it once they see the full interview and take whatever action they need to take.”

It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo makes any further comments to counter Rooney’s remarks in the near future.
