Transfer News: Sadio Mane predicts bright future for Ibrahima Konate

Ibrahima Konate has been hailed by Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane, who has claimed that it feels he has been with the Reds for years.

As quoted by Transfer Market Web, Sadio Mane has heaped praise on new teammate Ibrahima Konate. The Senegalese forward has claimed that he and the rest of his Liverpool teammates have been left surprised by how well has been faring in training, adding that it feels like the youngster has been at the club for years.

Ibrahima Konate ended up being the only signing of the summer transfer window for Liverpool, having arrived early in the window. The transfer was a much-needed one despite the permanent arrival of Ben Davies in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old is yet to feature in a competitive game for Liverpool but is heralded as a long-term solution for the Merseyside giants, if he can get a grip on the fitness issues that have plagued him in recent years. Either way, Konate is a player who is rated quite highly, making his acquisition a potential coup for Liverpool.

So, while pundits have made contrasting comments over Liverpool’s performance in the summer transfer window, Konate’s signing in isolation is a big one for the Reds. And teammate Sadio Mane has heaped praise on the young Frenchman in a recent interview.

Mane said, “He is a very nice lad and from the first day he was with us I was really surprised because it was like he has been here for years. With myself that was not the case because I am a bit shy, but he just came in and settled straightaway which is really important.”

“You could see in pre-season that he was doing well from the start and we are really, really happy to have him. I feel this year he will have a great season for Liverpool.”

Whether Konate has a memorable season for Liverpool remains to be seen, he ought to have a bright future at Anfield. For now, he is behind Joel Matip in the pecking order, meaning he will have to bide his time, just as Fabinho had to when battling for a midfield spot a few years ago.
