This cannot be allowed to happen again – Manchester United confirm Alexis Sanchez transfer [Reaction]

Alexis Sanchez’s tumultuous time at Manchester United is officially up, with the Red Devils announcing his sale to Inter Milan, who have signed him on a three-year deal.

Manchester United have made an official statement to confirm that Alexis Sanchez has left the club after an underwhelming stint at the club. The Chilean international has joined Italian heavyweights Inter Milan, who have signed him on a three-year contract.

Sanchez joined Manchester United from Arsenal in January 2018 as part of a shock swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan head the other way. The transfer, though, did not work out for any party involved, with Sanchez, in particular, enduring a horrific time at Old Trafford. That he was on hefty wages hardly helped his cause.

While Jose Mourinho tried his level best to integrate the 31-year-old in his squad, he soon became a bit-part player when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrived at the club. Soon, it became obvious that the Chilean forward did not really feature in the Manchester United manager’s plans and he was shipped off to Inter Milan on a season-long loan deal.

At San Siro, Sanchez has ended up rediscovering his verve and form, slowly but surely. In fact, no player has provided more assists than him (10) and he has gradually grown to become an important member in Antonio Conte’s squad. So, as the summer transfer window approached, it became clear that Manchester United might have a good chance at offloading Sanchez on a permanent transfer.

His wages did complicate matters, but in the end, a solution has been found, with Inter Milan not paying any transfer fee for Sanchez. The deal has worked out quite well for all parties involved, as Manchester United are saving around £40 million in wages while the Nerazzurri have ended up signing him for free. Sanchez, too, would now be focused on continuing to resurrect his career.

As far Manchester United are concerned, they would be glad to have offloaded one of their worst ever signings. With the no. 7 jersey now vacant and the Jadon Sancho pursuit in full flow, we might just be seeing the latest big-name player to don the fabled number. Something to look forward to for the fans perhaps. For now, a nightmare has come to an end for Manchester United and Sanchez.
