Thiago Silva wants his compatriot Neymar to join him at Chelsea in this window, as PSG are reportedly ready to let him go.
Neymar’s transfer to PSG in the summer of 2017 broke the world transfer record, as the French giants paid his astonishing €222 million release clause. Barcelona were angry back then as they lost one of the best players in world football to the Ligue 1 giants.
From PSG’s perspective, Neymar was signed to help them gain a foothold in the Champions League and lead the team to the coveted trophy. However, neither has the Brazilian performed to their expectations nor have PSG won the European title.
The 30-year-old has been overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe, who steadily overtook the Brazilian as PSG’s most coveted star. Additionally, the arrival of Lionel Messi last season took the gloss off Neymar’s presence, as he finds himself at a crossroads in his career.
PSG are reportedly keen to offload Neymar in this window, and there’s interest from Newcastle United and Chelsea in the Premier League. While the attraction is yet to be made concrete, there are whispers a move could materialise.

And veteran Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva has urged Neymar to join him at Chelsea. The defender’s comments were quoted by Sports Witness via JC, as the former PSG captain insisted that he hopes that a move materialises this summer.
Silva said, “He has to go to Chelsea. If it happens, it will be for the best. He needs no comments. So far, I don’t know anything, but I hope it comes to fruition”.
Chelsea fans can dream about such a signing, with the club’s new owners ready to back manager Thomas Tuchel. The Blues are already chasing Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, and if both moves materialise, then fans could be looking at a fabulous front three.
However, considering Chelsea have put themselves in the driving seat for Leeds United star Raphinha in the last few hours, a move for Neymar may remain a dream for Silva and the fans. Either way, the Stamford Bridge faithful can look forward to top-quality attackers coming in and making their team serious challengers again.
As for Neymar, he might have no choice but to remain at PSG, as he signed a new contract only last year. The new deal will be valid until 2025, and the Brazilian has the option to extend it by another season, making it difficult for the French giants to get rid of him just yet.
