Former Liverpool player Steve Nicol feels Liverpool should rope in both Moroccan internationals Sofyan Amrabat and Azzedine Ounahi.

As relayed by ESPN, Steve Nicol believes both Sofyan Amrabat and Azzedine Ounahi should don the Liverpool jersey in near future. Both the midfielders had an excellent run in the World Cup helping Morocco to their first-ever semifinal appearance.

Both Amrabat and Ounahi were the breakout stars of this World Cup as Morocco made it all the way to the semifinal. They became the first African team to achieve this feat and both the players are receiving mass attention from several clubs.

Amrabat’s entourage already had a couple of meetings with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and talks are set to intensify in the coming days. The Reds are set to lose a few midfielders next summer and Amrabat is a part of their contingency plan.

The 26-year-old will enter the last year of his contract in 2023 and Fiorentina are aware it might be the best opportunity to cash in on the player. A January move is very much likely and the Reds don’t have many competitors as of now.

For Ounahi he was a chief orchestrator alongside Amrabat who fine-tuned the Moroccan midfield in adverse conditions. His ability on the ball has already linked the Angers midfielder with a Premier League move and could follow suit with his fellow midfielder.

Nicol insisted Liverpool should go all out to secure both the midfielders if possible.

“I think if Amrabat’s available, I think there is no question.

“Liverpool needs bulking up in the middle of the park and he would be absolutely fantastic. I wouldn’t mind his partner in the middle either, Ounahi.”

Midfield has been one area that the Reds needed to address and they could certainly benefit from signing more than one midfielder. Both players are likely to command a much cheaper transfer fee than the other options available in the transfer market.

They have also been credited with an interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham but that would require a lot of money.
