Stan Collymore tells Manchester United to sell Bruno Fernandes

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has urged Manchester United to get rid of club captain Bruno Fernandes.

Speaking to Caught Offside, Stan Collymore has suggested that Bruno Fernandes is not captain material, and his actions suggest that he is not interested in the Manchester United project.

He said, “Let him go! Very good player? Yes! — Captain material? Absolutely not. The fact that he hinted earlier this week that he could be up for a move away tells me that he doesn’t have the stomach for the fight, doesn’t believe in the future project and wants a bit of the easy life — something you just don’t ever get at United.”

“For me, along with Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire and Antony he’ll be a poster boy for the era at United where promise was abundant but excuses and not delivering were the reality. Sell and move on!”.

The Manchester United captain recently hinted that he might be open to an exit from the club in the near future, and Collymore feels that the Red Devils should look to let him leave and bring in players who are committed to the project.

Manchester United cannot afford to sell Bruno Fernandes

Regardless of what the pundits feel about him, the 29-year-old is undoubtedly Manchester United’s best player this season, and he is the only one who has consistently performed at an acceptable level. Losing him would weaken Manchester United severely.

The Red Devils are already lacking in quality and depth in the middle of the park, and they cannot afford to let Bruno Fernandes leave anytime soon. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.

Manchester United have had a disappointing season, and they are set to miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification. For a club of their stature, it will be a devastating blow. It will be interesting to see if they can sign the right players during the summer transfer window and bounce back strongly.

Manchester United will be expected to compete for trophies every season. There is no doubt that they have talented players and their squad, and there is no reason why they cannot push for major trophies with a few intelligent additions.

Bruno Fernandes is at the peak of his powers, and he is unlikely to have any shortage of suitors if he is made available in the summer. Manchester United must look to build their midfield around him and help him perform at his best in the coming seasons. The 29-year-old also wants to stay at Old Trafford in the new INEOS era.
