Marcus Rashford has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in recent months, and Stan Collymore has commented on the situation.
Marcus Rashford has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and he has been linked with multiple European clubs in recent weeks. The Englishman was regarded as one of the finest attacking prospects in English football a few years ago, but his form has declined. It will be interesting to see if he can get back to his best and convince the Red Devils to hold on to him.
Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has now explained why Rashford should leave Manchester United. Speaking to Caught Offside, Collymore has explained that Rashford should go abroad or join a progressive Premier League club.
The English international needs to enjoy his game and play without too much pressure. Marcus Rashford has been under a lot of pressure at Manchester United and a fresh start could be ideal for him.
“Marcus Rashford should leave Manchester United. I’ve been saying it for probably a couple of years now, and he should either go abroad or to a progressive Premier League club,” he said before adding, “I think there will be takers for Rashford whether that be from Germany or Italy, but I’m not so sure about Spain.”
“He just needs to enjoy the game and love the game again, and I wonder if for the past five or six years whether he actually ever has. He always looks as if he’s carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.”
Where will Rashford end up?
Marcus Rashford is still very much at the peak of his powers, and he could be a transformative addition for most clubs in the world. If he manages to regain his form and confidence, he could be a game-changer. It remains to be seen where he ends up. Collymore feels that a move to Bournemouth could be an interesting opportunity for the striker. Alternatively, he could join clubs like Napoli or AC Milan as well.
“For me, it’s really simple. Either go to a wild card in terms of a Bournemouth, or head abroad to somewhere like Napoli or AC Milan.”
It will be interesting to see if these clubs are willing to provide him with an exit route. the England international earns around £300,000 per week at Manchester United, and that could complicate matters for any club hoping to sign the striker.
Rashford will have to lower his demands in order for the move to go through. Not many clubs will be able to afford his current wages, especially with the way he has performed recently.
