Roy Keane slams Mikel Arteta for referee complaints

Arsenal came away with a 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Sunday, but Mikel Arteta was disappointed with the decision to send off Leandro Trossard.

Leandro Trossard was shown the second yellow of the game after he decided to kick the ball away, and Mikel Arteta feels that Manchester City should have had a player sent off as well against Arsenal. Jeremy Doku was involved in a similar incident for the home side.

Arsenal would have expected to pick up all three points after leading the game until the very end. Manchester City defender John Stones scored the equaliser deep into injury time to grind out a point for the champions.

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend and Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane has slammed the Arsenal manager for his comments criticising the referee. Keane suggested that Trossard deserved the punishment and that the Arsenal manager should show some class, accept the decision and move on.

The former Premier League star, often outspoken on subjects including the recent national anthem controversy, suggested that managers are extremely critical of referees nowadays, and they need to be more sporting and show more respect in these situations.

“Managers are coming out every week saying every decision is against them,” Keane said on Sky Sports. “Just come out and accept it. Deep down he’ll be satisfied with a point. Show a bit of class, manager of Arsenal. He probably deserved the red card, we reacted well and we move on. That’s the end of it. Take your medicine and move on. Show a bit of class.”

Arsenal look formidable this season

Arsenal did quite well against Manchester City throughout the game, and they have shown that they have the quality to grind out important results in the big games. They have missed out on the Premier League title in the last two seasons, and it will be interesting to see if they can go all the way this time around.

There is no doubt that Mikel Arteta will have a quality squad at his disposal at Arsenal, and the experience gathered over the last two seasons will certainly help them this time around as they look to beat Manchester City to the title.
