Roy Keane comments on Mikel Arteta habits that irk him

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has hit out at Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta for his over-the-top celebrations and passionate demeanour on the pitch side.

Speaking on an episode of Stick to Football of The Overlap, Manchester United legend Roy Keane has suggested that the behaviour of Mikel Arteta has often irritated him and that his celebrations during games are over the top.

Keane said, “Arteta is a lot of things I don’t like but obviously he’s doing a good job there. But sometimes you look at the staff and you think that is over the top. I think when there is 28 staff hugging each other and the bus driver and the chef are joining in, you are thinking hold on a second.”

The Spanish manager has done a commendable job at Arsenal so far, and he helped them challenge for the league title last season. Arsenal have made an impressive start to the current campaign as well, and they will be hoping to push for the Premier League title once again. They are back in the UEFA Champions League as well.

Arteta has obviously done a phenomenal job of rebuilding the side and nurturing talented young players in the squad. His attacking approach has been a major hit with fans as well. There is no doubt that the Spaniard is a talented manager who has shown his quality in the Premier League. Arsenal fans will hardly be bothered with his over-the-top celebrations.

Roy Keane has always courted controversy with his remarks, and the latest one regarding the Arsenal manager is hardly a surprise. Arsenal picked up an impressive win over Manchester United earlier this month and Arteta celebrated the victory passionately and the goals in his usual flamboyant manner.

His celebrations have probably rubbed the Manchester United legend the wrong way, and his comments are not surprising. Meanwhile, Manchester United have made a disappointing start to the league campaign and Erik ten Hag has been under a lot of pressure.

The Red Devils were expected to challenge for the league title this season, but they are currently ninth in the league table. It remains to be seen whether they can bounce back strongly and compete with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City in the coming months.
