Robin Risser remains committed to Ligue 1 club RC Lens amid his links with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur for a summer move.
As quoted by French outlet Jeunes Footeux, Robin Risser has told Lensois.com that he remains committed to RC Lens ahead of the summer transfer window. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the 21-year-old shot-stopper. However, the youngster has no interest in leaving the Ligue 1 club anytime soon.
Risser said, “I’m under contract with the club until 2030. I want to stay here. I feel really good here. My wife and I have found a certain stability here. Every morning when I come to the club, I can’t wait to put on this jersey and train. I’m looking forward to playing at Bollaert. I think I haven’t reached the end of my adventure here.”
“Especially since we have a fantastic end to the season ahead of us. Next year, I think there are also, and I hope so, if we do things right at the end of this season, some great things in store for us. I’m not thinking about anything else. I’m really focused on this great club. For me, I’m privileged to be here. It’s important to honor this jersey until the end. We’ll see where it takes us. I’m convinced that next year, I’ll be wearing this jersey.”
Who is Robin Risser?
Robin Risser has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Ligue 1 since joining RC Lens from RC Strasbourg last summer. Born in Colmar, the 21-year-old Frenchman spent his formative years in France, passing through the academies at FC Bennwihr and SR Colmar before graduating from the youth division at RC Strasbourg.
Risser has played his part in RC Lens’s Ligue 1 title push in the 2025/26 season, keeping ten clean sheets while conceding only 27 goals in 28 league games thus far. Meanwhile, the French goalkeeper’s progress has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this year.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Newcastle United’s interest in Robin Risser makes sense. The Magpies are combing the market for a goalkeeper, as Nick Pope is on the wrong side of 30. Additionally, the Englishman has been error-prone and injury-prone in recent seasons. Furthermore, it is unclear if Aaron Ramsdale will complete a permanent move to Newcastle United after the 2025/26 season.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, the Lilywhites are keen on signing a goalkeeper to replace Guglielmo Vicario after the 2025/26 season. The Italian international is keen on returning to Serie A this summer, and widespread reports have heavily linked him with Inter Milan. So, Risser has emerged as a viable target for Tottenham.
Apart from Newcastle United and Tottenham, Inter Milan will also attempt to sign the 21-year-old Frenchman in the summer transfer window. However, with the youngster committed to RC Lens, a move away from the Ligue 1 club is not on the cards.
