England legend Rio Ferdinand has urged Chelsea and Liverpool to sign Jack Grealish, who is a target for Manchester City this summer.
Jack Grealish is one of the hottest properties in the transfer market at the moment, with the Aston Villa captain taking the Premier League by storm ever since the Villans’ return to the top-flight a couple of years ago. Such has been the impact he has made that Grealish has been linked with the who’s who of English football for well over a year now.
Initially, he was tipped to be a target for Manchester United, who were even primed to land the English international last summer. However, as things stand, the 25-year-old is being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, who have been touted to make their move for the player soon.
However, if the advice of Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand is to be heeded, Chelsea and Liverpool ought to be making a move for Grealish as well. In fact, the former England and United centre-back has even claimed, as quoted by Liverpool Echo, that he is the kind of player who can improve every team.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel (h/t Liverpool Echo), “Does he improve every team in the Premier League? Yes he does, end of argument. He improves every team. If I’m Liverpool, I’m going to get him. If I’m Man City, I’m taking him. Because he improves them. He improves Chelsea, 100%. Whoever’s got the money to pay for him, do it.”
“If Liverpool bought him it would be a bolt out of the blue. He improves them and then it’s like, ‘wow.’ I would love him to join Manchester United, obviously. But I just feel that the position that he plays is stacked. Bruno [Fernandes] in a ten, [Marcus] Rashford’s on the left, [Anthony] Martial is there, [Paul] Pogba is there.”
“There aren’t many breathtaking footballers around anymore who produce breathtaking moments and make you go, ‘wow that was crazy.’ Jack Grealish does that. He’s just a phenomenal player. If he’s going to go anywhere, I think it will be Man City. He would add to that team.”
Chelsea have been linked with Grealish previously, with Liverpool only having fleeting rumours linking them with the Aston Villa captain. However, as things stand, Grealish appears set to join Manchester City, although it will be interesting to see if either Chelsea or Liverpool make a late move for the 25-year-old.
