Real Madrid talisman Karim Benzema makes Kylian Mbappe claim

Real Madrid talisman Karim Benzema has claimed that Real Madrid could score double the number of goals if Kylian Mbappe joined them.

In an interview with L’Equipe, as quoted by Spanish publication MARCA, Karim Benzema has made a stunning claim about potentially linking up with Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid. The French striker has suggested that Los Blancos would score twice as many goals with his compatriot  in the team.

Kylian Mbappe’s relentless links with Real Madrid have paved the way for the most well-documented transfer saga of all time. Last summer, the French international nearly joined the Merengues in a nine-figure deal, but a move failed to materialise.

But Real Madrid’s interest in Mbappe has only grown stronger in the months since last summer’s transfer window shut down. With the 23-year-old set to become a free agent in July, the Spanish giants are hoping to snap him up on a Bosman move, which will be a cruel blow for Paris Saint-Germain, who are desperate to keep hold of the player.

Recent reports have even claimed that French President Emmanuel Macron is personally involved in helping PSG keep hold of Mbappe. Meanwhile, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner remains coy on his future prospects, refusing to reveal much in a recent interview amid continuous links with Real Madrid.

Now, Mbappe’s compatriot and Real Madrid talisman Karim Benzema has made a claim about the youngster’s possible acquisition in the summer transfer window. The French international has asserted that Real Madrid would score twice as many goals if Mbappe joined them.

“I like playing with [Mbappe] in the national team and I would like to play with him at club level. I believe that we would score twice as many goals – or even three times the amount! We have a great connection in the national team because we each know what the other one will do. For example, we both like going to the left but we will never both be there at the same time.”

Benzema’s claims do hold some weight, considering Mbappe has 28 goals and 20 assists in 38 appearances thus far this term for PSG. If he can perform at a similar level for Real Madrid, the Spanish giants will become one of the most formidable teams in Europe, provided he joins them on a Bosman move in the summer.
