Real Madrid could only manage a 2-2 draw at the Balaidos stadium and disappointingly bowed out of the Copa del Rey. Zinedine Zidane’s men lost 2-1 in the first-leg at Santiago Bernabeu.
Danilo put the hosts ahead after he turned the ball into his own net, before Cristiano Ronaldo levelled the score with a brilliant free kick. Daniel Wass then put Celta Vigo ahead once more before Lucas Vazquez headed in Real’s second goal.
However, Los Blancos could not find another goal and Celta progressed with an aggregate of 4-3. Zidane’s men have now won only 1 match in 5 games and Madrid fans are starting to get worried.
There was plenty of laughter and anger after Danilo scored an own goal.

Madrid could have carried that 30m they spent on Danilo, poured it into the red sea and still got better value for money.

Cadena SER:
Real with Danilo win 63.6% & without him wins 78% of games.
They have conceded 51 goals (1.2 per game) with him on the pitch.

I see Real Madrid fans are still pissed about Danilo ??? I blame Barca, they tricked RM into believing he’s good and suddenly pulled out

Zidane got mixed reactions from the Twitteratis with some supporting the manager while others criticising the Frenchman.
Anyone who’s watched Zidane’s Madrid would know the really odd thing was the run itself, not this spell

I can’t remember a manager making as many wrong decisions over two legs as Zidane has made

All it took is Zidane mentioning the treble once and poof! It’s gone.

Ronaldo, as always, received both praise and criticism for his performance.
3 – Cristiano Ronaldo is the only La Liga player to have scored a direct free-kick in three different competitions this season. Bomb. pic.twitter.com/EYh9376LyR

Isn’t Ronaldo called ‘Penaldo’ by critics? Not sure you can be called that when you score free-kicks as good as that. Incredible strike.
— Liam Canning (@LiamPaulCanning) January 25, 2017
In Spain, Cristiano Ronaldo scores a free kick. Proof that if you get 324 goes at something, eventually it works. Tell Sturridge. #LIVSOU
