Isco and Gareth Bale were on the scoresheet as Real Madrid celebrated Zinedine Zidane’s return to the club with a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo.
Real Madrid kickstarted a new era under returning manager Zinedine Zidane with a solid 2-0 win over Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon.
Zidane’s return to the club meant there were wholesale changes to the starting XI, with the likes of Keylor Navas, Marcelo, Isco all getting reinstated to the team. And Real Madrid started the game on a positive note, but couldn’t break the deadlock, with Gareth Bale coming the closest, having struck the woodwork.
Luka Modric then had a goal ruled out by VAR early in the second period. But, Isco put Real Madrid in front, prodding home from close range a little after the hour mark, before Bale made it 2-0 fifteen minutes later to ensure a victorious return for Zidane.
Real Madrid fans came out in full force on Twitter to celebrate the victory on Saturday, with many praising Zidane for bringing players that had lost their places under Santiago Solari i.e., Isco, Navas, Marcelo and Bale, back into the fold. Isco and Bale went on to score, while Navas ensured Real Madrid’s first clean sheet in nine matches and Marcelo too had a solid game.
Genuinely enjoying Real Madrid once again

The real win of Real Madrid, I guess, is that now Real is out of the crisis, but we have to wait until the summer to get to a place that has been made from it forever. pic.twitter.com/C17eJTpsGO

I never doubted Marcelo and Isco. Navas would never be benched by any reasonable coach. Zidane is the man Real Madrid needed.

Zidane’s return to Real Madrid’s bench healed wounds, won points and did some group therapy. Zidane resurrected the dead with Isco and Marcelo. Zizou will continue to regenerate the team with the 10 matches left this season. Players have regainef confidence. [marca] pic.twitter.com/9vFhZyAFYI

Marcelo and Isco involved in both goals. Bale looks alpha. Asensio taking players on in the second half. Keylor pulling miracle saves.
Welcome back, 2016.
