Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick gave his thoughts on the ongoing situation at Chelsea and expressed his hopes for a peaceful solution.
The situation at Chelsea has become the major talking point ahead of the latest Premier League matchday. Since the tensions between Russia and Ukraine escalated, the impact on Russians abroad has been significant, especially those with direct connections with Russian president Vladimir Putin. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is among those affected.
Fearing potential sanctions, Abramovich recently put Chelsea up for sale. Two days ago, the British government seized the Russian billionaire’s assets in the country, including Chelsea. The club’s bank accounts have been frozen, and all business has essentially ceased.
Thomas Tuchel recently responded to the development, suggesting it was business as usual on the pitch, although the reality of the situation is far different than the Chelsea manager’s words.

Like many managers, Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has given his opinion on the situation before their game against Tottenham. He was quoted by football.london as saying, “Everybody shares the same opinion that this is a tragedy what is happening [in Ukraine]. Fingers crossed, they can find a peaceful solution once again. If the implications have an effect, it may even prevent Chelsea from finishing the season and have wider consequences for the next campaign.”
“I don’t have enough inside information to discuss what is happening at Chelsea. It is a human tragedy, and I hope there is a peaceful situation in the next days or weeks. Anyone in this room, or wherever, could not have foreseen what happened in the last weeks.”
Rangnick then sympathised with his Chelsea counterpart Tuchel, saying, “We need to be very careful about blaming someone. Roman Abramovich is the owner, but Arsenal and Everton have had Russian involvement, so they are not the only club.”
